The Ellijay Police Department is beginning the hiring process for THE FOLLOWING VACANT POSITIONS:  

POLICE OFFICER

QUALIFICATIONS:  21 years of age or older; High School graduate or equivalent; possess or be able to obtain upon employment a valid Georgia Driver’s License; Citizen of the United States, or qualified to work in the United States;  No felony convictions; No Family/Domestic Violence convictions nor a history of Domestic/Family Violence; able to successfully pass an agency hiring board, psychological examination and polygraph examination.  Must be able to meet all knowledge, skills and abilities listed in the Ellijay Police Department job description for Police Officer.   Georgia POST Peace Officer Certification preferred (must obtain in the first year of employment);

COMPENSATION: Starting Salary Range:  $28,000 – 29,000; Employee  benefits include but are not limited to medical and dental insurance, life insurance, POAB fees and dues, GMA Retirement.  Officers work fixed 12 hour shifts with a 2/2/3 rotation.

PROCESS:  Applicants should submit a completed, original (not fax or email) application form and background booklet to the attention of the police chief.  Only those applications which are complete will be considered.  Qualified applicants will be notified and an interview board scheduled.
