MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF:

Welcome to the Ellijay Police Department web site.  The Ellijay Police Department is a community-oriented department dedicated to providing professional law enforcement services to the citizens of Ellijay and to all those who visit our City.

Some facts about our Department:

• Our City has one of the lowest crime rates in the State.
• We utilize community-oriented policing and believe that through a rigorous patrol program we can prevent crimes instead of reacting to them after they occur.
• We believe in aggressive traffic enforcement.  Our officers have won numerous awards from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the local and national MADD chapters.  These awards have included:  Officer of the Year, Coordinator of the Year, DUI Enforcement Officer of the Year and we have been named Department of the Year twice.
• We provide training to our agency as well as many others in the North Georgia area.
• As Chief, I have served two terms as District Representative for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.  I was the first in our area to ever hold this office.
• We work extremely hard toward providing 21st Century law enforcement while still maintaining the “small town” feel that makes Ellijay so appealing.
