Ellijay is the historic county seat of Gilmer County, the Apple Capital of Georgia, and an Appalachian Trail Community. Mountain vistas, cold clear rivers, specialty, and antique shops, great restaurants, biking, hiking, and so much more await you.

The City of Ellijay is accepting bids for the resurfacing of the following:

1- Penland Street beginning at the intersection of SR-52 West and ending at the intersection of Cox Creek Road, a point .35 miles from beginning.  Pavement type shall be 9.5 Superpave type I, Group I or II.  Pavement shall be a minimum of 1.5 inches thick.

2- South Main Street/Old SR-5 South beginning at the Southern intersection of Howard Simmons Road and ending at the Northern End of the Ellijay River Bridge, a point .7 miles from beginning.  Pavement type shall be 12.5 Superpave type I, Group I or II.  Pavement shall be a minimum of 1.5 inches thick.  1.5 inches of pavement shall be removed by milling from the Ellijay River Bridge prior to placement of new pavement on the same.

3- Corbin Hill Road and Old Tails Creek Road beginning at the intersection Ellijay City Limits and ending at a point .7 miles from beginning.  Pavement type shall be 9.5 Superpave type I, Group I or II.  Pavement shall be a minimum of 1.5 inches thick.

4- Boardtown Road beginning at the intersection SR-52 West and continuing to Ellijay City Limits a point .49 miles from beginning.  Pavement type shall be 19 Superpave type I, Group I or II, 2 inches thick from Ellijay City Limits south to a point .3 miles from beginning.  Pavement shall be 12.5 Superpave type I, Group I or II, 1.5 inches thick from the intersection of SR-52 West to the Ellijay City Limits, a point .49 miles from begining.

Pavement shall meet Georgia Department of Transportation specifications and guidelines.  All pavement markings and lines shall be replaced to match existing and or to meet Georgia Department of Transportation specifications. 

 This resurfacing project includes several driveway aprons which must be installed in a manner which will allow uninterrupted access to all properties.  Bidders are urged to view the project prior to submitting a bid.  Please contact Mayor Al Hoyle-706 273 9977 with questions or for assistance in viewing the project area.
